How Did I Get There: Walk from Huashan 1914 Creative Park using Google Maps

Storytime: My friend I were craving dessert so we literally googled and found this place. Probably not very well-known to tourists, this place is a secret hideout for locals and students. Unfortunately, the owners were not very comfortable in front of cameras or have any photos of anything taken so above (post cover) is the only footage that I have!

To share some information, photos below are taken from Peko's post that I found online. All photo credits goes to her and her food review here!

✘ Unassuming entrance

Hidden in an alley, we placed in our trust and followed Google Maps. As dodgy as it may seem while wandering with just two girls in a foreign country, it was quite an adventure. We entered as some middle-aged men were about to exit. Together with the owners, they all thought we were Japanese and were very surprised when we spoke Mandarin.

✘ Limited space

If you note their opening hours, they are open until they are sold out. From there, they are done for the day. With that being said, their interior has limited space as well as they do not consider themselves to be a big business. If you're travelling in large groups, good luck.

✔ Tasty and affordable

Although the owners of this place asked me to delete any photos, they were still friendly enough to strike conversation and shared with us that they kept the prices low because of the constant support of the students from the schools nearby.

As awkward it was for me to continue our time there after being made to delete my footage, it was an experience for the both of us. Afterall, it made me a bit more aware of who and what I'm filming. Their dessert is honestly pretty good so I would definitely go back again someday if I'm in Taiwan again.
